Mini-Review: Montecito Ristorante Lounge

The other day we stopped in to have a few drinks and play some games at the Montecito Ristorante Lounge, an all new Italian-American restaurant that opened last week in Downtown Waukesha. I have to say, it was refreshing to see such a large and open space Downtown.
The space is divided into four sections, the bar (which is dark for now, until the large glass door arrives in two months), two lounge areas with couches, and dining spaces, and the large gaming/dining area.
While playing shuffleboard and billiards, we enjoyed the house beer Mr. Monte (a Budweiser product, priced at $2 a glass), and Dale brought us some bruschetta to taste test. I usually do not enjoy the balsamic reductions paired with the bruschetta, yet Dale’s version was glorious and the bread had just the perfect chewy consistency.
Although the Montecito has some kinks to work out, such as the uneven-tiled bar and slow service on off-hours, I will definitely be coming back to try more of their food, and to use the shuffleboard again (shuffleboard is one of my favorite bar sports, which is unfortunate as they are hard to come by. Magellan’s/M2 used to have one, yet they replaced it with darts…).

Looking forward to checking this place out too, though I always hate restaurants that serve bruschetta out of tomato season. It can still be made good but will never be “great” due to the lack of good tomatoes.
Interesting point, never really considered that. Although, I may not be the keenest on my bruschetta knowledge and palette, yet I’ve always felt the tomato/onion mix is secondary to the bread. I mean, bruschetta is quite simply toast.
I agree about the bread. Theirs looks good…nice and crusty. I like places that do seasonal bruschetta. Tomatoes in summer and fall, then things like roasted red peppers, arugula, and maybe tomato jam and goat cheese in the winter months.
