Hayward Williams @ House of Guinness

Thankfully, these unusual Wisconsin winter nights have kept me out more than usual. Last night I ventured out into the House of Guinness in Downtown Waukesha to take in the deep, sturdy and honest voice of Hayward Williams.
Those of you who have been following me since my radio days, on Don’t Say Goodnight, should be more than familiar with this pure Americana artist from our neck of the woods, as he pleasingly blends strong composition and authentic lyricism with indelible melodies.
He played a few of my favorites, Redwoods, In Doorways (above) and Problems with Hemingway, as well as some great covers, such as Bruce’s State Trooper.
Hayward is touring in the Milwaukee area for just a few more weeks before he is off on his European tour. I truly recommend taking a break to hear him perform. Like I’ve said before, whether you’re into folk, Americana, alt-country, singer/songwriter fare or simply music that can weather the test of time, this guy is the real deal.

Hayward Williams released his third full-length album, Cotton Bell, in February 2010 at the Skylight Opera Theatre. Here’s hoping his next album debuts soon.
